Twirly-Top Toque

Got an itch for a fast knit to balance out my current marathon projects (and wanted to use up some old stash in preparation for a trip) so cast on for a Twirly-Top Toque (say that three times fast) by Tamara Del Sonno from One Skein Wonders: 101 Yarn Shop Favorites.

I grabbed a skein of Plymouth Galway and cast on a few weeks ago. This pattern is quick, and if I had concentrated on finishing it (yeah, right) it would have only taken a few days. As it were, I took it with me when I went up to Maine to see family along with two other long-slog projects. We had some free time today so I focused on knocking the hat out. It’s still a little chilly at times up this north so it’s in season!

Twirly-Top Toque has a rolled brim with a simple lace pattern that you work for about five inches (although that’s completely customizable) with another reverse-stockinette edge and then a clever swirl pattern to create the flat top. The hat is long enough to cover your ears (which is perfect!) and turns out super cute. It would work with a variegated yarn as well.
